Shekhar (Priyanshu) is an upwardly mobile young professional in Mumbai whose life changes the night he is introduced to a businessman Amar from Canada. He is invited to join Amar's Shah Industries, but declines the offer as he is happy where is. However, Amar wagers that he will succeed in his attempts to bring Shekhar to Canada, and also discloses that he is to be married next week.
Amar, who is in Mumbai for a brief visit, takes a cab to the airport to catch his return flight to Canada. The taxi breaks down, and he tries to walk to the airport. But he is hit by Shekhar's car when the latter tries to avert running down a small child who strays on to the dark streets.
Shekhar's friend who had accompanied him on the fatal drive warns him not to admit that he is responsible for the accident. But Shekhar is consumed by gult, and flies to Canada to confess to the bereaved family.
He confides in the late Amar's father, but the shell shocked father cannot speak in the aftermath of his son's tragic death. Shekhar then turns his attention to the ailing Shah Industries, and its beleaguered managing director Pia (Sandali Saha) who was Amar's fiance. She is initially reluctant to work with Shekhar, but relents when he turns around the company's fortunes.
A Romantic Triangle
Shekhar falls for Pia, but cannot confess either his love or his role in her fiance's accident to her. In the meanwhile, one of the company clients develops a romantic interest in Pia and proposes to her. In the meanwhile, Pia and Shekhar begin to disagree on Pia's business moves, and Shekhar decides to leave the company and the town. Pia realizes her dependence on him and tries to stop him, but Shekhar is now under the radar of Mumbai police. He denies his feelings, and Pia accepts her suitor's proposal.
Abhinav Sinha and Jagjit Singh
Director Abhinav Sinha's sensitive handling of the script and fresh talent infuse life into a story that has depth and appeal despite a plethora of melodrama. Priyanshu Chatterjee and Sandali Saha play their roles with aplomb. Chitra's soulful rendition of the title song,and Jagjit's Singh's beautiful ghazal Koi Faryaad are a treat for music lovers.
