Mar Java, 'Fashion'
Sugandha Mishra croons Mar java from the 2008 Priyanka Chopra starrer Fashion. The other famous track from the movie is Jalwa, originally sung by Sukhwinder Singh with music by Salim Suleiman. Incidentally composer Salim Merchant served as judge on another reality show, Indian Idol.
Sugandha scores 7 out of 10 for her attempt at this tough number.
Haule Haule from Shahrukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Khurram Iqbal made a smart song selection with Sukhwinder Singh's Haule haule. It was picturized on superstar Shahrukh Khan (here dressed up as a naive simple-minded engineer) and leading lady Anushka. Rab ne bana di jodi went on to become a blockbuster with music by the brother composer duo Salim Suleiman.
Bahara, 'I Hate Luv Storys'
The romantic solo sounded fresh in Abhilasha Chillum's dulcet voice. Generally regarded as ready for playback, her performance as usual received positive reviews. I Hate Luv Storys was a big hit this summer with stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor. Vishal Shekhar who are on the judges panel this season composed its musical score. Other attractions in the album are its title track and the lyrical Bin Tere.
Afreen Afreen by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Originally rendered by the legendary late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the mid 90's, the non-film track made it to the top of the charts where it reigned for several weeks. Fareed Hassan made a brave attempt, but any comparison with the original is bound to fall short.
Ali Sher's Challa
The song was picturized on Emraan Hashmi in his latest movie Crook. Ali Sher added his own dance steps in the the middle of an energetic performance to win the stylisih Performer of the Day award.
Kamal Khan's Lagi Ve Na Gayi
Kamal Khan enthralls as usual, this time with the Punjabi Lagi ve na gayi from the movie Chalte Chalte. This number has been attempted countless times on reality shows, the most memorable by Karunya on Indian Idol.
